Frenectomy

Lingual frenectomy: simple solution to treat “tongue-tie”, where one may have limited range of motion of tongue due to a short anterior tongue frenum (attachment) to the floor of the mouth.

Labial frenectomy: simple solution to treat short attachment of the upper or lower lip to the upper or lower gum, which usually results in localized gum recession.

Anesthesia Options:

  • simple local anesthesia (injection to make the area numb)
  • add Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas)
  • IV sedation (medications given through the IV to have patient drift off to sleep for a short while, until the procedure is completed)
