Procedures

Pediatric Anesthesia:

Our office is well equipped to treat minor surgeries for children, including dental extractions, dentoalveolar fractures & other minor gum surgeries.

Safety is always first in our office, so all doctors and assistants are trained to safely manage emergencies using necessary equipment in our office.

Anesthetic Options include:

  • simple local anesthesia (injection to make the area numb)
  • for the anxious child:
    • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is breathed in through a nose piece works to decrease anxiety.
    • Sevoflurane (general anesthetic gas) is a rapid acting gas that is breathed in through a mask & wears off quickly after one stops breathing it. It is ideal for short procedures and children.
    • IV sedation (medications given through the IV to have the patient drift off to sleep for a short while, until the procedure is completed) – this procedure may be used in conjunction with the above for slightly longer procedure to maintain anesthesia.
